Esanti Fine Wines Adelaide Hills Merlot - 2006 "2006 was a low cropping year in the Adelaide Hills. A cool damp ripening period meant fruit had great varietal aroma intensity. Varieties such as Pinot Noir and Merlot really benefited from these conditions so long as they were well managed. The 2006 Esanti Merlot is a great example of what good site selection and careful vineyard management can achieve. The nose is floral and earthy; violets and red berry aromas are rarely seen in this variety and are reminiscent of great European examples. The palate is fresh and well structured; there is a great balance of both weight, acidity and fruit aroma. The wine is long finishing with red berry fruit aromas."
